User facility for time-correlated laser and synchrotron pulse experiments — •D. Pop, R. Weber, B. Winter, N. Böwering, B. Langer, M. Wick, J. Gatzke, and I. V. Hertel — Max-Born-Institut, Max-Born-Str. 2A, D-12489 Berlin

The performance of the MBI user facility at BESSY II will be

described. This undulator beamline is dedicated to study the

dynamics of photon-induced processes by time-resolved two-color

two-photon photoemission (2C-2PPE) using combined laser and

synchrotron pulses. The synchrotron photon energy range up to ca.

350 eV is covered by three gratings. In order to demonstrate the

high brillance of the beamline and the small focal size of the

synchrotron radiation we present photoemission spectra from a

salt solution in a liquid water beam of 6 microns diameter [1].

We also discuss our current laser-pump/synchrotron-probe 2C-2PPE

experiments aimed to unravel the excited-state dynamics in OLED

(Organic Light Emitting Diode) films [2]. The latter experiment

focuses on the identification of the absolute binding energies of

the elementary excitations in such organic band-gap materials,

specifically in parahexaphenyl.
