Intermediate Regime between the Mott Insulator and the Anderson Insulator in One Dimension — •Dietmar Weinmann1, Rodolfo A. Jalabert1, and Jean-Louis Pichard21IPCMS-GEMM, 23 rue du Loess, F-67037 Strasbourg — 2CEA Saclay, SPEC, F-91191 Gif-sur-Yvette

We investigate interacting spinless fermions in a strongly disordered mesoscopic chain. At half filling and weak interaction, the system is dominated by Anderson localization but becomes a Mott insulator at very strong interaction. Between these insulating regimes, abrupt re-organizations of the groundstate charge density occur at intermediate interaction strength, accompanied by huge delocalization effects at sample specific values of the parameters [1]. In the ensemble average as well, delocalization is observed at moderate interaction strength when the correlated system of particles is more fluid than in the limiting cases. Studies of different system sizes indicate that this effect persists in the thermodynamic limit.
