Relativistic (e,2e) processes with highly charged ionic targets — •Marco Kampp1, H R J Walters2, and Colm T Whelan11Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, Silver Street, Cambridge, CB3 9EW, UK — 2Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, The Queen’s University Belfast, UK

The relativistic distorted wave approximation(rDWBA)[1] has been applied to good effect to describe kinematically complete electron impact ionization processes with neutral atom targets.

In this paper we consider the ionization of multi-charged ions in a range of kinematics and geometries. We demonstrate that all the effects previously predicted and observed for the neutral case( i.e. Mott Scattering, spin flip, Pauli blocking) should also be observed for the ionic case. We explore novel geometrical arrangements which could be used to heighlight key physical effects.
