Resonance-like enhancements in high-harmonic generation — •Carla Figueira de Morisson Faria1, Richard Kopold2, Wilhelm Becker2, and Jan-Michael Rost11Max Planck Insitut für Physik komplexer Systeme, Nöthnitzer Str. 38, D-01187 Dresden — 2Max Born Institut für nichtlineare Optik und Kurzzeitspektroskopie, Max Born Str. 2A, D-12489 Berlin

Pronounced resonance-like enhancements have been recently observed near the low-energy end of the high-harmonic generation [1] and above-threshold ionization plateaus [2]. We investigate these features for high-harmonic generation, using simplified atomic models. In particular, we address the question of which of the physical pictures describing the enhancements, namely resonances involving ponderomotively upshifted Rydberg states [3] or channel-closing effects [4], is correct, or whether they are complementary aspects of a more complete description.
