Holographic Multiplexing in Photorefractive Polymers — •Reinhard Bittner1, Klaus Meerholz1, Gregory Stegman2, and Demitri Psaltis21Physical Chemistry Department, University of Munich, Butenandtstr. 11, 81377 Munich — 2California Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering, Pasadena, CA 91125

We report about the first attempt to record multiple holograms in photorefractive polymers by peristrophic multiplexing for use in associative memories. Since organic PR materials do not exhibit mono-exponential recording behavior like their inorganic counterparts, a novel recording schedule was derived. An M-number of 0.3 was measured experimentally by recording 30 holograms of roughly equal strength in a single location of 125 micron-thick material. The effects of hologram dark-decay on the time-evolution of the M-number and the relative strengths of individual holograms is investigated. The performance parameters of various materials will be investigated and compared.
