Strongly enhanced second-harmonic generation (SHG), which is characterized by a nearly isotropic intensity distribution, is observed for ultrathin gold-films near the percolation threshold. Whereas this nonlinear light scattering is diffuse, linear reflection and transmission beams are highly collimated. Our observations, which can be explained by giant fluctuations of local nonlinear polarizations due to disorder induced plasmon localization, verify recent predictions of percolation-enhanced nonlinear scattering.
