Photodissociation Dynamics of ClOCl around 350 nm — •Gundula Trott-Kriegeskorte1, Robert Aures1, Christof Maul1, Karl-Heinz Gericke1, Zhenya Wang2, and Yukio Nakano31Institut für Physikalische und Theoretische Chemie, Technische Universität Braunschweig, Hans-Sommer-Str. 10, 38106 Braunschweig, Germany — 2Laboratory of Laser Spectroscopy, Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Academia Sinica, 230031 Hefei, China — 3Department of Molecular Engineering, Kyoto University, Kyoto 606-8501, Japan

The state-resolved observation of nascent ClO generated from the photodissociation of Cl2O parent molecules is performed by using single-color (2+1) laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and resonance-enhanced multi-photon ionization (REMPI) techniques in the wavelength range from 337 to 360 nm. The spectra are assigned to the C2Σ←X2Π3/2 transition of ClO with O and S rotational bands clearly resolved. The ClO product is observed in low vibrational states (v = 0,1,2) with high rotational excitation. Implications on the kinetic energy release and the assignment of the involved electronic states will be discussed, a partial re-interpretation of which seems to be necessary.
