We present measurements of the Lyman series of He ii in a gas-liner pinch device at ne = 1 − 4 × 1018 cm−3 and kB Te= 5 − 15 eV, where the plasma is independently diagnosed by Thomson scattering. Synthetic spectra are calculated using the Frequency Fluctuation Model where the level population is provided by the FLY code. Intensity ratios and Stark broadening of the lines (Lα - Lє) are experimentally and theoretically investigated. We find good agreement between experimental and calculated intensity ratios and Stark widths for the Lyman-γ, Lyman-δ and Lyman-є transitions, the Lyman-α and Lyman-β transitions suffer under radiation transport.
