Transport Properties of Dense Metal Plasmas — •Sandra Kuhlbrodt and Ronald Redmer — Universität Rostock, FB Physik, 18051 Rostock

Transport properties of a plasma like electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and thermopower are mainly determined by the state of the plasma. Especially, the electrical conductivity is of interest because experiments were performed for different metals in a region of ϱ=(0.001-1.0) g/cm3 and T=(1-25) eV, using the rapid wire evaporation technique.

We have calculated the transport coefficients of metal plasmas applying linear response theory in the formulation of Zubarev. A partially ionized plasma is considered, consisting of electrons, atoms, and ions of charges up to 5+. The transport cross sections for electron scattering at other particles (other electrons, ions, atoms) were calculated on T matrix level as well as in Born approximation.

The results are compared with the experimental data and with other theories.
