Parametric amplification in the vuv and xuv spectral range — •Carsten Reinhardt1, Boris N. In high order harmonic generation the conversion efficiency of plateau harmonics is limited by absorption. In principle, this limitation may be overcome by parametric amplification. Various schemes of multi-photon pumped "high order parametric amplifiers" (HOPAs) for the short wavelength spectral range have been analyzed, involving gain transfer and coupling processes of different orders [1]. Experimental attempts to realize such processes will be presented and discussed.
