In fundamental as well as applied science there is great interest and a huge potential in well characterized shaped ultrashort laser pulses, in particular in the visible spectral regime. Pulse shaping techniques have matured over the past few years [1]. The power efficiency of direct shaping of an amplified ultrashort source, however, is typically quite low. In our approach we use a double stage non-collinear optical parametric amplifier with an acousto-optic modulator used to shape the generated pulses prior to the second amplification stage. Shaped pulses of up to 3µJ energy were obtained. The repetition rate of our setup is 1kHz, the tuning range covers 500 - 700 nm, and the pulse duration is below 50 fs. Both the one and two stage amplified pulses are characterized and compared by cross-correlated spectrally and temporally resolved upconversion technique [2], which measures the group delay versus frequency component of the shaped pulses.
