Development of Quadrupole Collectivity in the neutron-rich Se, Ge, Zn, and Ni Isotopes — •H. Scheit1 and MPIK-LAND-FRS21Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Heidelberg — 2

An experiment was performed at the SIS-FRS facility at GSI to study the collectivity in the neutron-rich Se, Ge, Zn, and Ni isotopes, which are located in the vicinity of the N=50 and the Z=28 shell closures.

A primary beam of 86Kr (E/A=450 MeV; I≈3· 1010 ions/spill) was fragmented on a Be target (4000 mg/cm2) mounted in front of the FRS fragment separator. A cocktail beam of neutron-rich nuclei in the A∼80 region was selected and transmitted to the experimental station in CAVE B, where a Pb target was used to populate their first excited 2+ state via Coulomb excitation. The subsequently emitted γ rays were detected in a new highly segmented CsI detector covering the forward hemisphere from about 10 to 85. All incident particles were tracked and identified before and after the secondary target.

The measurements allow the energy of the first excited state as well as the corresponding B(E2;0+ → 2+) to be determined. The experimental setup and preliminary results will be presented.
