HADES is a second generation dilepton spectrometer presently being commissioned at GSI Darmstadt. A full simulation of the spectrometer setup has been performed to calculate expected e+e invariant mass spectra for the reaction C+C at 1.5 AGeV. We have used the HADES simulation package HGEANT for particle track propagation through the detector components, and the HADES da ta analysis package HYDRA for digitization and hit reconstruction. Events with e+ e pairs were generated assuming emission of π0, η, Δ, ρ, ω, a nd φ particles from a thermally equilibrated source with parameters extracted from experiment. Contributions from pn bremstrahlung and from combinatorial background have been investigated as well. The simulation method and the obtained results are pr esented. supported by BMBF (6TM970I) and GSI.
