The effect of interactions in the transport properties of one-dimensional quantum dots formed by two impurities in GaAs-AlGaAs quantum wires can be investigated experimentally [1]. These studies show puzzling features in the conductance and spectrum to be interpreted [2]. We propose an inhomogenous interaction strength along the wire describing the experimental setup. By calculating the one particle Greens function we extract the effective Luttinger liquid exponents for the conductance [3] and find that power laws depend on the temperature range and the positions of the impurities with respect to the interaction landscape.
