Recent experiments on InAs/GaAs ring-like quantum dots [1], in addition to the conventional exciton luminescence, have revealed also recombination within complexes consisting of more than two particles. The simplest complex of this kind is a trion [2], which is a bound state of of two electrons and a hole. Motivated by these experiments, we study theoretically the binding energy of a trion on a ring and the sensitivity of this energy to the magnetic flux threading the ring. We find that the spin configuration of electrons within a trion determines the spatial structure of the trion, and, correspondingly, the emission spectrum.
