Search for materials and techniques for preparation superfluid weak link — •S. Pereverzev and G.Eska — Physikalisches Institut, Universität Bayreuth, D-95440 Bayreuth

We report a technique for preparation of 15 nm thick free-standing tight membranes from nitrocellulose. We describe how 15 nm holes could be made in those membranes by bombardment with heavy ions. The resulting nanostructure could be used as a weak link (Josephson junction) for superfluid 3He or for superfluid 4He at a temperature close to the λ-transition. 0.005 cm We report results of our evaluations of materials which are in use for gas separation and hyperfiltration (reverse osmotic) membranes and also of free-standing diamond like carbon (DLC) membranes. Perspectives of making 10 nm thick free standing membranes with molecular size pores are discussed.
