First steps towards a nonperturbative construction of the Bogoliubov scattering operator — •Tobias Schlegelmilch — Universität Hamburg

In the Bogoliubov-Stückelberg-Epstein-Glaser-formulation of perturbative quantum field theory, it is possible to obtain the algebras of local observables from the Bogoliubov scattering operator S(g). The question arises whether one can construct S(g) also in a nonperturbative way. S(g) is defined as solution of a time dependent Schrödinger equation. But standard tools from quantum mechanics turn out to be too restrictive to be applied also in the field theoretic setting. In this talk, a formalism due to J. S. Howland is presented and used to construct S(g) in simple field theoretical examples.
