In order to study the underlying event energy at the Tevatron, the distribution of charged particles produced in jet events and in minimum bias events has been examined using data from the CDF experiment. CDF data have been analyzed at two different center of mass energies: 1800 and 630 GeV. Since the underlying event originates mostly from soft spectator interactions, its contribution cannot be perturbatively calculated. Therefore models have been developed to reflect the properties of the data. Some of the models implemented in Monte Carlo programs have been examined and their predictions have been compared to data from the Tevatron. Finally, results were extended to LHC energies (14 TeV) where a good understanding of soft dynamics will be of extreme importance, since a large number of soft interactions is expected to be superimposed on any hard event of interest.
