Enforced monitoring and regulation of coastel areas require the development of advanced technologies and instrumentation. In an European project we developed a real time and in-situ sensor for the analysis of pollutants in seawater which is based on spectroscopic methods: Raman (SERS), fluorescence, refractometry, infrared absorption. Target analytes are aromatic hydorcarbons, PAH, oxygen, salinity, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons.

The complete system, i.e. the core instrument with the laser lightsources and an imaging axial spectrograph and the optodes, mounted on an open frame ROV will be presented.
