Stimulated Scattering of Picosecond Pulses in KY(WO4)2, KGd(WO4)2 and Pb(WO4)2 crystals with Subharmonic Raman Shift — •G.M.A. Gad and H.J. Eichler — Optical Institute, Technical University of Berlin, Strasse des 17. Jni 135, D-10623 Berlin, Germany

Multiple Stokes and anti-Stokes lines were excited with focussed 100 ps pulses at 1.064 µm and 0.532 µm wavelength and up to 10 mJ energy. New stimulated phonons with a wave number of 311 cm−1 for a KY(WO4)2 crystal and 320 cm−1 for a Pb(WO4)2 crystal have been observed. New Stokes and anti-Stokes lines at about 1.117 µm, 1.083 µm and 1.046 µm for KY(WO4)2, 1.214 µm, 1.118 µm, 1.108 µm and 1.021 µm for KGd(WO4)2 and 1.117 µm for Pb(WO4)2 were excited by simultaneous pumping with the fundamental 1.064 µm emission and the second harmonic of the Q-switched Nd3+:Y3Al5O12 laser. The new Raman lines exhibit frequency shifts corresponding to one half of the known phonon wave numbers 900 cm−1 and 311 cm−1 for KY(WO4)2, 900 cm−1 and 769 cm−1 for KGd(WO4)2 and 901 cm−1 for Pb(WO4)2 crystals.
