We report about the study of the DC-photoconductivity (DC-PC) and the dynamics of photocurrent of TPD-PPV based photorefractive (PR) materials. From DC-PC and xerographic discharge (XD) experiments the photogeneration efficiency and the trap density in photoequilibrium have been determined. Further, modulated photocurrent experiments have been performed to study the dynamics of carriers at different temperatures, light intensities and applied electrical fields. From these data the trap density, life time of the charge carriers and their mobility have been obtained as a function of temperature and electric field. The observed decrease of trap density at high temperature is attributed to trap filling by injected carriers. The trap densities estimated with this experiment are in a good agreement with the values obtained from DC-PC and XD measurements. These data are then used to estimate the trap-limited space-charge field in the PR material and the holographic recording times on the basis of different PR models.
