Magnetic field and polaronic effects on the binding energy of a hydrogenic impurity in a cylindrical quantum dot — •M. Bouhassoune — Max-Planck Institut für Mikrostrukturphysik, Weinberg 2, 06120 Halle, Germany

The role of the magnetic field and polaron effect on the binding energy of shallow donor impurities in a cylindrical quantum dot (QD) is analyzed in the framework of the effective mass approximation by using the variational approach. The magnetic field is applied in the axial direction and the interaction of the carrier charges (electron and ion) with the confined longitudinal optical phonons as well as the side surface and top surface optical phonons are considered. We describe the effect of the quantum confinement by an infinitely deep potential well. Results are obtained as functions of dot sizes (radius and height) on the donor impurity position for several magnetic field strengths. Emphasis is put on the dependence of the polaronic correction on the magnetic field and the impurity position. The results can be useful to control the spatial distribution of the donor center in the QD.
