Applying neutron scattering methods to nanometer-scale lateral structures is a challenging task and demands new insight into the understanding of the re-magnetization processes of nanostructures. The first challenge is the use of large area structured thin films for neutron scattering experiments. The second challenge is the difficult accessibility of nanometer-scale lateral structures by neutron scattering because of their unfavorable Q-values. We performed polarized neutron reflectivity experiments on Fe-nanowires of 100 nm width forming an array with a lattice parameter of 300 nm. Using a scattering geometry with the stripe array aligned under a certain angle to the incoming neutron beam made the peak patterns accessible for the measurements. In the perpendicular configuration, the peak pattern was not seen. The magnetization reversal behavior was studied at the specular and the structural first-order peak and within a certain range as function of the sample rotation. Differences between both measurements are discussed and are compared to longitudinal and transversal MOKE results. We acknowledge founding by DFG, SFB 491 and BMBF 032AE8BO.
