Here we report on investigation of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy measured on a series of SmFe1−xCoxTiHy single crystals (x = 0,1,2,3,4,5,6; 0.56≤y≤0.8). On one hand adding some Co amount is widely used for improving magnetic properties of iron based magnets. On the other hand, as it was found in 1994-1995, R- ion give anisotropy contributions of different sign in case of Co- and Fe-based compounds. The host system was investigated before. Here we compare the results obtained on the parent system and the hydrides. The anisotropy field was found to decrease with the Co concentration and at low concentration a FOMP behavior was found. Hydrogenation results in a substantial change of the magnetization curve - the FOMP transitions are shifted to higher fields and even can appear for compounds, which do not perform the FOMP in the non-hydrogenated state. Our results show that interatomic distances play an important role in the competition of anisotropy contributions and give rise for further investigations.
