Optimization of Organic Semiconductor Devices by Adjustment of the Injection Contacts — •Holger Frohne, David Mueller, Nina Reckefuss, Paula Rudati, and Klaus Meerholz — Chemistry Department, Butenandstr. 11, 81377 Muenchen

We have recently demonstrated that the adjustment of the electrochemical equilibrium potential (Eeq) of a conductive polymer such as PEDOT allowed to choose the current throughput in organic semiconductor devices from injection-limited to space-charge limited (SCLC) at will. While this was unambiguous, but indirect proof for the assumption that there is a correlation of Eeq and the work function of the material, we now give direct evidence from Kelvin-probe and photovoltaic experiments. We use combinatorial device strategies to optimize organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) as well as organic solar cells (OSC).
