Detection of localised states in organic semiconductors by thermally stimulated luminescence — •Paolo Imperia, Maria Benedetta Casu und Sigurd Schrader — University of Potsdam, Institut of Physics, LS-PKM

Bulk trap state properties of organic semiconductors have been measured using thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) technique. The TSL, a powerful contactless technique, gives direct evidence of bulk traps distributions. The peak analysis has been done using both first and second order TSL equations taking into account Gaussian distributions of localised states. Furthermore the fractional glow peak separation technique was used for giving evidence of further hidden peaks. The model for the TSL glow curves, the theoretical results of the numerical calculations are discussed together with the analysis of the experimental peaks. The materials, candidates to be used as electron transport/hole blocking layer in organic light emitting devices show the presence of shallow traps and of deeper states that can affect the carrier transport properties and the recombination processes in multilayered OLEDs.
