Low temperature time-resolved photoluminescence of PTCDA single crystals — •A. Kobitski, R. Scholz, H.P. Wagner, and D.R.T. Zahn — Institut für Physik, Technische Universität Chemnitz, 09107 Chemnitz, Germany

3,4,9,10-perylene-tetracarboxylic dianhydride (PTCDA) single crystals have been studied by means of time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) at different temperatures from 10 K up to 300 K, revealing several overlapping PL bands in the region 1.5 - 2.05 eV with different decay times. The analysis of the PL lineshape taken at different times after the excitation pulse allowed to establish the relative contribution of each band to the steady state PL spectra and its temperature dependence. The origin of the different bands is discussed on the basis of density functional calculations of single PTCDA molecule and dimer stacks.
