In the summer of 2003 the high repetition rate and high spatial resolution TVTS system will become operational on the TEXTOR tokamak. The aim is, to study the dynamic behaviour of meso scale plasma phenomena, like MHD modes, transport barriers and edge phenomena. To reach this, a 1-20 kHz intracavity laser system is combined with 2 fast Phantom V7.0 CMOS cameras. During one discharge of TEXTOR three bursts of about 50 pulses can be extracted from the laser system with a time separation of more than 1 s between the bursts. This new equipment will be implemented on the beam line and spectrometer of the present double pulse TVTS system of TEXTOR. The new TVTS system will be capable of producing three times  50 electron temperature- and density profiles along a laser chord of 900 mm with a spatial resolution of 7.5 mm for the full plasma diameter and 2 mm for the edge region, respectively. An observational error of 8% on Te and 4% on ne is expected for ne = 2.5   1019 m−3, using a laser pulse energy of typical 15 J. A description and the expected system performance will be presented here.
