The multi-detector KASCADE enables simultaneous (event-by-event) observations of a large number of parameters characterising the EAS. The Muon Tracking Detector (MTD) at KASCADE is used for the determination of the lateral distribution and angles-of-incidence of EAS muons with 0.8 GeV energy threshold. The angles-of-incidence of the muons (with respect to the shower axis) are strongly correlated with the muon production heights and therefore they depend on the primary mass [1]. By using a multidimensional correlation between MTD and Field Array (FA) observables (i.e. muon angles-of-incidence, electron and muon shower sizes, core position and shower inclination) the primary mass discrimination has been investigated. A conspicuous improvement of the mass discrimination is found by adding the muon angles-of-incidence in the analysis. A comparison between the primary mass composition obtained from FA observables only and the primary mass composition adding MTD observables and the MTD & FA correlations provides the possibility to test the consistency of hadronic interaction models underlying the multiparametric analysis.
