Measurement of the arrival directions of cosmic ray muons in CosmoALEPH — •Vassilios Kotaidis, Arif Mailov, and Claus Grupen — Physics Department, University of Siegen

The CosmoALEPH array consisting of five scintillator stations and the Hadron Calorimeter of ALEPH has been used to detect the muon component of extended air showers underground at a vertical depth of 320 m.w.e. Using threefold coincidences the zenith and azimuth angles of cosmic muon events are calculated. The results are compared to a detailed GEANT simulation which takes into account the topological structure of the surface and the nearby Jura mountains.
