Symmetries, and in particular Lorentz and Poincaré invariance play a very important role in our understanding of quantum field theory. It is natural to look for possible generalizations of Poincaré invariance in the hope that they may play some role in Physics. An interesting generalization of Poincaré invariance is Conformal invariance. /par One study of Conformal invariance on a non-trivial manifold (R × S3) will be outlined, concentrating the analysis mainly on a scalar field. To that aim it is necessary to construct a Lagrange density, invariant under conformal transformations, and to obtain the corresponding scalar field taking into account the conformal symmetry of the manifold.
