A real space renormalization group approach to spin glass dynamics — •Falk Scheffler1, Hajime Yoshino2, and Philipp Maaß31Fachbereich Physik, Universität Konstanz, 78457 Konstanz, Germany — 2Department of Earth and Space Science, Faculty of Science, Osaka University, Toyonaka, 560-0043 Osaka, Japan — 3Institut für Physik, Technische Universität Ilmenau, 98684 Ilmenau, Germany

The salient non–equilbrium properties of spin glasses uncovered by experiments such as ultraslow isothermal aging and rejuvenation/memory effects require to search for the correct physical picture of the spin glass phase. We study the Edwards-Anderson Ising spin glass model in the Migdal-Kadanoff approximation which amounts to considering a spin glass on a hierarchical lattice. A simple scheme for the dynamical interpretation of the real space renormalization procedure allows us to access many of the desired long time and large scale properties of the model, which remain out of reach by conventional numerical techniques. Based on our coarse–grained approach, we analyze by both analytical and numerical means the aging dynamics as well as rejuvenation/memory effects emerging during temperature or bond cycling. Our results exhibit a rich variety of behaviors similar to experimental observations.
