A first principles approach to strongly correlated systems – combinig the GW method and dynamical mean field theory — •Silke Biermann1, Ferdi Aryasetiawan2, and Antoine Georges11LPT, Ecole Normale Superieure, 24 rue Lhomond, 75231 Paris Cedex 05, France — 2Research Institutue for Computational Sciences, Tsukuba, Japan

We describe a new approach to the electronic structure of strongly correlated materials. It is based on a combination of the GW method with dynamical mean field theory and retains the main advantages of both: a first principles treatment of the Coulomb interactions (as in GW) and the ability to access the strong coupling regime (in a dynamical mean field way).
