Visible spectroscopy of trapped highly charged ions at the Heidelberg EBIT -Isotop effect- — •R. Soria Orts, V.M. Shabaev, H. Tawara, J.R. Crespo López-Urrutia, and J. Ullrich — Max-Planck-Institut für Kernphysik, Saupfercheckweg 1, D-69117 Heidelberg

We have measured with very high accuracy (≤1 ppm) the wavelengths of the forbidden transitions in higly charge ions of krypton (Kr XVIII, Kr XIX, Kr XXIII) and argon (Ar XIV) in the visible range. The isotope effect has also been investigated in 86Kr and 84Kr. These ions have been produced and trapped in the Heidelberg EBIT. To obtain the spectra a Cerny-Turner spectrometer was used with 1200 l/mm grating combined with a liquid N2 cooled CCD detector. The spectrometer is mounted at 90 degrees /deg relative to the electron beam axis. Between the ion trap and the entrance slit of the spectrometer an optic system rotates the horizontal beam image into the vertical spectrometer slit. For the wavelength calibration a hollow-cathode iron lamp was used. The calibration was carefully repeated before and after each measurement. Furthemore careful analysis of the isotopic effects are under way.
