Ultrashort pulse Ti:Sapphire laser system with a high and adjustable repetition rate — •Jana Hüve, Thorben Haarlammert, Jörg Kutzner, Grigorios Tsilimis, and Helmut Zacharias — Physikalisches Institut, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, 48149 Münster

Ti:Sapphire oscillator-amplifier systems are commonly used for the generation of femtosecond pulses with high pulse energy. These systems are usually only suitable for repetition rates of no more than a few kHz. However, for many experiments in the field of femtosecond spectroscopy, an extensive statistical approach is required. This naturally involves a sufficient number of measurements, which are only obtainable by a femtosecond laser system with a higher repetition rate.

We make use of a cavity dumping technique including a Bragg cell in the oscillator. The amplifier is pumped by a frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser at repetition rates of up to 65 kHz with an average power of ≤80 W.

With this equipment, variable repetition rates of up to 40 kHz can be obtained for the entire laser system. The system is currently under construction and is going to be characterised at different repetition rates.
