Magnetic potentials created by miniaturised current carrying wires on surfaces (atom chips) have proven to be a powerful tool in recent experiments with Bose-Einstein condensates. High gradients and trap frequencies allow for fast evaporative cooling and significant simplification of the experimental apparatus.

Our approach consists in a single chamber setup, 87Rb atoms are loaded from a pulsed source (dispenser) into a reflection MOT, transferred into a U-MOT created by wires on the chip and finally into a magnetic Z-trap which provides a Ioffe-Pritchard field configuration. Evaporative cooling is applied in order to reach the BEC phase transition. Several parallel Z-wires will allow for the creation of double well potentials with variable coupling and adjustable barrier height. The poster presents the different loading steps of the atom chip and the experimental status. Possible parameter sets for the observation of Josephson oscillations will be discussed.
