SCIAMACHY (SCanning Imaging Absorption spectroMeter for Atmospheric CHartographY) is a space borne instrument, which measures the earth’s radiance in limb and nadir viewing geometries and solar or lunar light transmitted through the earth’s atmosphere. We performed the first test retrieval of uncalibrated Level 0 data products from SCIAMACHY Lunar Occultation measurements obtained in April and May 2002. We retrieved O3 and NO2 height resolved profiles using optimal estimation and eigenvector decomposition methods. The O3 profiles were compared with POAM III results. Information on tangent heights used for the profiles retrieval was improved using O2 retrieval. The quality of these first Lunar Occultation retrievals will be discussed.
