Second year of operation for the HADES Drift Chambers MDC III at SIS — •Kalliopi Kanaki, Alexandre Sadovski, Frank Dohrmann, Wolfgang Enghardt, Eckart Grosse, Klaus Heidel, Jochen Hutsch, Burkhard Kämpfer, Roland Kotte, Lothar Naumann, and Mannfred Sobiella — Forschungszentrum Rossendorf e.V.

The High Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI, Darmstadt provides the possibility for electron-positron spectroscopy at incident energies up to 2 AGeV. The physics program includes the systematic studies of meson production in hadron and heavy-ion induced collision systems covering a wide region in the nuclear matter phase diagram up to nuclear densities of 3ρ0 and temperatures up to 100 MeV. For the measurement of the charged particles momenta a magnet is embedded between four planes of Multiwire Drift Chambers (MDC). In November 2002 the spectrometer completed two years of operation. All six chambers are fully operational and four of them have been installed in the HADES setup. Long term studies of the performance of these detectors, including their front end electronics, as well as specific short term monitoring methods will be presented. Quality assessment (QA) software needed to be developed in order to evaluate the quality of collected data which will be used for analysis. Different QA methods will be discussed.
