Finite and High Temperature Gluon Propagator in Landau Gauge Yang-Mills Theory — •Axel Maas1, Burghard Grüter2, Reinhard Alkofer2, and Jochen Wambach11Institute for Nuclear Physics, Darmstadt University of Technology, Schloßgartenstraße 9, D-64289 Darmstadt, Germany — 2Institute for Theoretical Physics, Tübingen University, Auf der Morgenstelle 14, D-72076 Tübingen, Germany

Yang-Mills theories undergo a deconfining phase transition at a critical temperature. In lattice calculations the temporal Wilson loop and Z3 order parameter show above this temperature a behavior typical of deconfinement. A quantity of interest in the study of this transition is the gluon propagator and its evolution with temperature. An overview of the current status of an investigation of the finite temperature gluon propagator in Landau gauge will be given. The analysis of the high temperature case will be discussed in more detail. The resulting Dyson-Schwinger-equations are compared to the corresponding ones of three-dimensional Yang-Mills theory. Under certain assumptions it is found that a kind of spatial ’confinement’ is still present, even at very high temperatures [1].
