What does the ghost propagator show about confinement? — •Jochen Gattnar, Kurt Langfeld, and Hugo Reinhardt — Institut für Theor. Physik, Univ. Tübingen, 72076 Tübingen

Using computer simulations of SU(2) lattice gauge theory, the ghost propagator is studied in Landau gauge. At zero temperature, we find that the ghost form factor is enhanced in the IR limit [1] in accordance with Zwanziger’s horizon condition and recent Dyson-Schwinger studies [2]. Well above the deconfinement temperature, we observe that the IR enhancement of the ghost form factor persists. These findings are consistent with the expectations from dimensional reduction. Finally, we address the case of 3-dimensional YM-theory, which can be considered as an approximation to realistic YM-theory at asymptotic temperatures.
