Relativistic Nucleon-Nucleon Potential using Dirac’s Constraint Instant Form Dynamics — •H.V. von Geramb1, D. Bayansan1, A. Funk1, St. Wirsching1, B. Liu2, H.W. Crater2, and H.F. Arellano31Kerntheorie, Univ. Hamburg — 2Space Institute, Univ. of Tennessee — 3Fisica, Univ. de Chile, Santiago

The formalism of coupled two-body Dirac equations within constraint instant form dynamics is used to study the nucleon-nucleon interaction. This particular approach for spin 1/2 particles was developed by Crater, Van Alstine and collaborators and they define a Poincaré invariant interaction in terms of scalar, pseudo scalar, vector etc. potentials. The compatibilty of the full equations is shown and finally explicitly energy dependent coupled channel potentials for use in partial wave Schrödinger like equations with second and first derivatives result. We have developed the necessary numerics and study np and pp scattering phase shifts for energies 0–3 GeV and the deuteron. The interactions are inspired by meson exchanges of π,η,ρ,ω and σ. The adjustment of coupling constants and short range form factors yield high quality fits to the Arndt phase shifts. The calculations are compared with those of Fuda who uses instant and light front forms and definitions of mass operators. Finally, we get full agreement with the nonunitary elastic channel phase shifts with the addition of a complex optical model term. First consequences of applications to a relativistic microscopic medium energy nucleon-nucleus potential is also shown.
