Using Slater determinants as trial wave functions, we have performed center of momentum projected calculations (projection before the variation) for several nuclei. In this talk we will briefly describe the applications we have done for the nuclei 16O and 40Ca. In this contex we will present results for the binding energy, single-particle energies, charge densities and spectroscopic form factors. Also a comparisson with traditional approximate methods to restore the Galilean invariance will be discussed.
