Status of the Superconducting Injector Linac for COSY — •Ralf Eichhorn, Ulf Bechstedt, Norbert Bongers, Jürgen Dietrich, Frank Esser, Olaf Felden , Ralf Gebel, Helge Jungwirth, Andreas Lehrach, Rudolph Maier, Uwe Pfister, Dieter Prasuhn, Peter von Rossen, Alexander Schnase, Herbert Schneider, Yurij Senichev , Rolf Stassen, Hans Stockhorst,, Raimund Tölle, and Evguenij Zaplatin — Forschungszentrum Jülich, 52425 Jülich

The superconducting linac COSY-SCL is being designed and constructed at the Forschungszentrum Juelich. This new linac will inject protons and deuterons into the cooler synchrotron COSY and will be able to fill the synchrotron the with polarized protons as well as with polarized deuterons up to the space-charge limit at the injection energy.

The accelerator will consist of a polarized CIPIOS ion source, a normal conducting RFQ and a superconducting section based on 2 Half-Wave Resonator families. The operating frequency will be 160 MHz for the β=0.12 and 320 MHz for the β=0.2 resonators. Paired by four these cavities will be housed in separated cryostats, intermitted by a normal conducting quadrupole doublet and a diagnostic section. The beam current will be up to 8 mA for unpolarized beams, the final energy will be 52 MeV for protons and 56 MeV for deuterons, respectively.

This contribution refers the design layout of the linac and its main components, the current status and future perspectives will be presented
