Nuclear Halo Studies with Elastic Proton Scattering — •Marco Tomaselli1, Lon-chang Liu2, Thomas Kühl1, and Stephan Fritzsche31Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, D-64291 Darmstadt, Germany — 2T-Division, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM 87545, USA — 3Kasssel University, D-34132 Kassel, Germany

Proton-nucleus elastic scattering at low and high energies have been used to probe the halo of the matter distributions of exotic nuclei. The IKAR collaboration has performed low-energy scattering experiment at GSI, who measured the differential cross sections of elastic proton scattering from helium and lithium isotopes in inverse kinematics [1] and extracted from the data the matter distributions and the r.m.s. radii by using Glauber theory [2]. Theoretical matter distributions and r.m.s. radii of 6Li, 9Li, and 11Li are compared with the experimental values. Good agreement is obtained [3]. For 6Li, the effect of the halo on the proton elastic differential scattering cross sections at 20 GeV is also presented [4]. Our nuclear structure model is also succesfully in explaining the charge radii, matter radii, and the magnetic moments of the 3He and 4He isotopes [5]. [1] P. Egelhof et al., Prog. Part.and Nucl.
