Implementing results from physics education research: The use of web-based pretests in a large lecture course — •Christian Kautz — TU Hamburg-Harburg, Rm. 0.075, Schwarzenbergstr. 95, 21073 Hamburg

Pretests (i.e., weekly conceptual physics questions guided by physics education research) have played an integral part in introductory physics instruction at the University of Washington for more than 10 years. More recently, pretests at UW and some of the pilot sites in the Tutorial project have been administered via the world-wide web. We will discuss our experience with the web-based pretests at one pilot site and suggest some general conclusions.
