Self Consistent Transport Computations in Tokamak Global Fluxtube Geometry — •Bruce Scott — Max-Planck-IPP, Euratom Association, Garching, Germany

Computations in globally consistent fluxtube geometry in recent years have shown tokamak turbulence and anomalous transport to have a statistical and energetic character not necessarily following from corresponding linear instabilities. The statistical equilibrium resulting from the interaction with large scale ExB flows is part of that interaction. We now present the next step in the evolution of these computations: the fully self consistent interaction with the MHD equilibrium as well as the much slower diffusive relaxation of the profiles. Both simple fluid and comprehensive gyrofluid versions are presented; while the basic interactions are accessible with four field models following densities and currents, several phenomena of central relevance to experiments depend on the dynamics of the temperatures and parallel heat fluxes of each charged species as well. Progress towards the goal of a fully self consistent description of the tokamak edge including the inhomogeneous transition from edge to core parameters will be reported.
