The superconducting linear electron accelerator S-DALINAC provides a cw electron beam of energies up to 130 MeV at a repetition rate of 3 GHz for nuclear physics experiments. Current activities for the improvement of the accelerator regard the redesign of the control system utilizing CAN bus, the development of new RF power sources, RF input couplers, frequency tuners as well as the modification of the injector cryostats. The concepts of the redesign and first results gained with a test set-up for the RF part of the control system as well as systematic measurements of the TM010 mode frequencies and resulting conclusions will be discussed. For dedicated nuclear physics a source for polarized electrons is developed in close cooperation with MAMI (Mainz) and CEBAF (Newport News, USA). The layout and first results will be shown.
