Total-absorption spectroscopy studies of the 103,105Sn β-decay — •M. Kavatsyuk — GSI Darmstadt, Planckstr. 1, 64291 Darmstadt
Studies in the 100Sn region offer a possibility to test nuclear models describing structure and decay properties of nuclei in which protons and neutrons occupy identical orbitals near a shell closure. The β-decay in this region is dominated by an allowed Gamow-Teller (GT) transition π g9/2 → ν g7/2. Dominant GT resonances were identified in the decay of 103,105Sn by using the total-absorption spectrometer (TAS) at the GSI-ISOL facility. Using the TAS for the investigation of the β+/EC decay enables one to detect the direct population of states in the daughter nucleus. In particular high-lying, closely spaced and weakly populated states in the daughter are accessible. The GT strength distributions were measured for 103,105Sn, the preliminary values for their maxima being 3.6 and 2.4 MeV and for the summed strength 3.3 and 2.6, respectively. The results will be discussed in comparison to data from high-resolution spectroscopy and to shell-model predictions.
