eRHIC detector optimization — •J. Sutiak, I. Abt, A. Caldwell, C. Kiesling., and X. Liu — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik (Werner-Heisenberg-Institut), Föhringer Ring 6, 80805 München

The ep–collider HERA at DESY has been a leading facility to study the proton structure. A new e–p facility eRHIC is planned at BNL where a 10GeV electron ring will complement the existing RHIC accelerator which provides protons up to 300GeV. In order to measure F2 and FL at low x and low Q2 a new detector is proposed for precise tracking in the forward and backward direction. Its main features are a dipole magnet around the interaction point with a magnetic field perpendicular to the beam and a silicon tracker to measure particles with very small scattering angles. The detector is optimized for both acceptance and momentum resolution. The overall performance of the detector is presented as well as the accessible phase-space for desired measurements. The feasibility of using jets for the high x regime is also addressed.
