Next-to-Leading Order QCD predictions for Heavy Quark Photoproduction — •Adriana Elizabeth Nuncio Quiroz1,2, Achim Geiser2, and Johann Gagnon-Bartsch31Universität Hamburg — 2DESY Hamburg — 3Stanford University

Cross sections predictions for hadronic scattering in Next-to-Leading Order QCD are usually calculated by using Monte Carlo techniques to generate weighted parton level events. As the weights are very different (several orders of magnitude), extremely high statistics is necessary to keep statistical fluctuations low, which are dominated by the events with the highest weights. Here a technique is presented to reduce the range of possible weights by combining single entries, with similar kinematics, to new ones with a proper weight. The final goal is to obtain a Monte Carlo event generator which can be directly linked to a fragmentation and decay package, and to a subsequent detector simulation chain. At the same time, the accuracy of the NLO predictions is preserved. The technique is explained for the case of photoproduction of heavy quarks using the FMNR program (Frixione, et.al. Nuclear Physics B412,1994).
